" Sambhav "
One more initiative launched by DAVKT on 12.1.2012

Dr Ambedkar Vanvasi Kalyan Trust [ DAVKT] runs a hostel for 30 college going tribal boys at its Surat complex.

Trust has decided to train these boys for civil services exams. Result: The birth of “ SAMBHAV” , world of limitless possibilities, for the tribal boys for this hostel as well as boys & girls from south Gujarat.

On 12.1.2012, Swami Vivekanand’s 150 th birth anniversary, SAMBHAV commenced its project with an awareness session for 250 students from various colleges from Surat. Session was held at Navyug college hall and was addressed by none other than the Joint Director – SPIPA [ Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration ] , Mr Jaswant M Acharya, run by the government of Gujarat.Mr Acharya is Joint Secretary Government of Gujarat.

Students were also addressed by Mr Himanshu Bhatt, In charge for this project at DAVKT. He stated that all the students , especially those from weaker sections of the society are welcome to avail these excellent facilities being created next door.

Mr Acharya emphasized the role of public administration and advised the student to join the services. He said that it was better for young boys and girls to join the services and improve things rather than criticize or blame the administration for this or that problem. Civil services now offer much better remunerations coupled with the glamour and the power to change things, he said.

It was not necessary for the aspirants to be very brilliant but they should be prepared for putting in hard work and should be mentally prepared to accept several failures before success is achieved.

Session was also addressed by Dr Anil Dhamelia an IAS student from SPIPA. He stated that it was necessary to work SMART rather than work HARD. He advised the students that lot of reading is required for exams but it is necessary for the students to decide early “ WHAT NOT TO READ”! This is needed as there is huge amount of reading materials available in the country.

Success of the programme was evident from more than 200 initial application forms filled up and submitted by the students in the hall itself.

Three additional such briefing sessions were completed by DAVKT in Bharuch , Vyara and Valsad respectively on 19th, 24th and 25th January.

" SAMBHAV " will formally start working from EKLAVYA BHAVAN in DAVKT complex at Surat from 14th April 2012, birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.
